RUSPER Model Railway Club

The Club exists to operate a 'oo' gauge model railway based on prototypical British Railways practice 1948 to 1964.

Meetings are monthly on a Sunday, in all weathers — see the 'Meeting Dates' page for our Operating Dates in 2008. At the meetings we operate the Railway according to a timetable based on real time.

There are 11 stations and trains are signalled between stations using bell codes based on BR practice.

SMALL FIELDS Station

Shed 2 - A down Push Pull branch line service pauses at whilst on its way to ORLTONS JCT and HOOKWOOD. A light engine works on the mainline out of CHARLWOOD station and onto ORLTONS JCT

At the terminus, locos are stored in the MPD and operating turntables are used to back the engine onto its train. The Club has over 80 steam era locomotives many carriages and wagons - there are 2 Pullman sets, 7 main line carriage sets, another 5 local passenger trains, 7 set goods trains and numerous other wagons for timetabled goods trains.

Shed 6

Shed 6 - A Bachmann V2 turns on the RUSPER table, while a Class 25 shunts TILGATE goods yard. The class 24 has left RUSPER on the down main and will soon arrive in TILGATE station

Club members can bring their own locomotives, either Steam or Diesel, provided they are passed by the Locomotive Superintendent as good runners - and they are correct for our period 1948 - 1964.

Trains are shunted, broken up and made up according to the timetable.

HOOKWOOD goods yard

Shed 1 - A busy scene at HOOKWOOD goods yard. An up Express heads towards ORLTONS JCT and on up the main line to RUSPER.

Shed 6

Shed 6 - Bachmann STD 4 together with weathered Austerity and 9F pause between duties.
